4 mile loop of the heath steady (4.30 min/k), then 12 x 400m off 45s (all 69-71, most 70s) & jog to the overground
Made the usual journey from the Wharf to Belsize Park and jogged the mile to the track. Its an easy addition of mileage to try and get away a little earlier so as to get a lap in pre session. 4 miles, up Kite Hill, along Spaniards Road down Hampstead Lane, back into the Park past the ponds and back past Kite Hill to the track starting point. I always find that I'm more up for the session when I've worked a sweat up with a steady jaunt. Forgot the head torch this week which made the gate (helpfully coloured black) 3/4 blocking the path at 3 miles interesting. Nothing quite that adrenaline rush of BARK coming out of no where at 3.5 miles and a beastly looking animal chasing you down, that was a strider to say the least.
Session felt OK, if a little heavy in the legs for the last 3 or 4. Lots of miles in there and first raw speed session in a couple of weeks, so reasonably pleased with that, particularly given that its a taper week.
Feels good to be having a somewhat 'pressure off' week. Good just to be able to enjoy the running without thinking about the mileage needed too much. That'll need to change next week though!
