Recovery surprise

19M double
5M am Emankment to Wharf (4.30 min/k)
14M pm Wharf to Kew (4.10-4.15 min/k)

Slightly warmer this morning along the North Bank. Even the tramp gathering did without the tarpaulin! Probably not much below freezing. Plan for today was a steady one in, before heading back to Hammersmith later on and picking up the district line - a pretty standard jaunt.

Felt pretty strong in the morning given it was early again, but didn't expect that to be the case 10 miles into the return Half mara. By Hyde Park Corner, despite carrying a pretty heavy pack, laptop, wardrobe full of kit from work (end week-wash) I was having one of those "zone runs". Decided to extend it slightly by cutting across Hyde Park, rather than heading 'as the crow' through Hyde Park and High St Ken. The alternative route cuts across, picking up the Bayswater Rd, and then the standard Euston St. run back through Notting Hill and Sheppy Bush. Total was therefore a tad over the Half by the end, apart from a couple of niggles in the left knee, the pace was better than expected and felt easy. Quite pleased given this takes me to almost 40 miles in 2 days - the most I've done for a while.

Surrey League tomorrow, so hopefully some of the strength will come through - we'll see...
