21M including 20M "Finchley 20" road race in Ruislip.
My first ever 20 miler. Four 5 mile laps of Ruislip so a bit of a mental test too. Most of it on live roads too which make a bit of traffic dodging inevitable, along with 'runner dodging' by mid-way through the 2nd lap given that's when the significant lapping of the back runners starts.
Splits below, which are OK. Each 5 got slower, but not by a huge degree. In fact, running a consistent pace based on lap #1 wouldn't have got me round that much quicker, so good that they were broadly consistent, suggesting that the pace was probably pretty much spot on for the shape I'm currently in. Good to get the 'pace in the head' and know that I need to work a little more on increasing that over the next few weeks. Getting gels & hydration handed out at the end of each lap was a good boost so definitely need to get all that worked out for the marathon.
Felt absolutely trashed afterwards, it was a pretty fast last 500m.
