AM - 5.5M easy around the River
PM - 5.5M up at Parliament Hill, including 16 x 400m (off 40s)
Felt pretty rough this morning. Think it must have been the Haagan Daz last night. Not a good idea, but I was pretty hungry. Decided to pull up after 5k and do my core strengthening exercises. After that, once running again, I didn't feel too bad.
In contrast, track was a pretty good session. Appalling conditions, torrential rain, but not blustery. The water on the track, and the additional 2kg impact of it on the kit didn't help. Splits all 70-72s, averaging more towards 72s. 5 min/mile pace, which for all the miles in the legs from the last 3 weeks probably isn't anything to be concerned about. More than anything, felt strong, which is the main thing.
16 doesn't feel like a 'big thing' anymore. Rather, just a case of getting there and churning it out. In fact, off 60s, and doing 10 or 12 of them. I rekon I could have easily kept up high 68s. Bodes well for some fast summer 3 or 5ks once all of this marathon malarkey is over I think...
